What is DataSpice?

DataSpice is cookieless product analytics for founders and small SaaS teams. It brings three data sources into one workspace: a first-party web analytics script, Apple App Store Connect, and Stripe or RevenueCat revenue. That way "where did this customer come from, and what did they pay us" is one screen rather than three dashboards. It sets no cookies, so no consent banner is required in front of it.

What DataSpice does

DataSpice measures three things and joins them. Web traffic comes from a first-party script you add to your own pages, one tag in the head. App data comes from Apple App Store Connect, read with an API key you create in your own Apple account. Revenue comes from Stripe or RevenueCat. Each source works on its own; none is a prerequisite for another.

The join is the point. A traffic report ranks sources by visits, and the revenue ranking is almost always different. The revenue one is what should decide where your next week goes.

What makes DataSpice different from other analytics tools

Four things, and none of them is that it is prettier.

  • No cookies, therefore no consent banner. The web script sets no cookies for analytics purposes, so there is nothing for a banner to ask permission for and it can load on first paint.
  • No sampling. Every reported number is computed from recorded events. Nothing is estimated, extrapolated or suppressed for being a low-volume row.
  • It counts people, not tabs. Sessions are resolved server-side, so three open tabs on the same site are one visitor.
  • Three sources, one workspace. Web, Apple App Store Connect and Stripe or RevenueCat revenue in the same view. No other cookieless analytics tool does this part.

Who DataSpice is for

It is built for founders and small SaaS teams who want acquisition, app and revenue answered in one place rather than three. That is a narrow audience on purpose.

  • You run a small SaaS or an indie product and are tired of reconciling three dashboards.
  • You ship both a website and an iOS app.
  • You want to know which acquisition source produced paying customers rather than which produced pageviews.
  • You do not want a cookie banner on your site.
  • You have a team and do not want analytics billed per seat.

Who DataSpice is not for

This list is not modesty. A tool that can say where it stops is a tool you can trust inside that boundary, and every item here is a real reason to use something else.

  • Deep behavioural product analytics. No funnel exploration, no retention cohorts, no session replay, no feature experiments. Use PostHog, Mixpanel or Amplitude.
  • Android or cross-platform mobile. The store integration is Apple App Store Connect. There is no Google Play integration.
  • Billing outside Stripe or RevenueCat. Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Chargebee and Braintree are not supported.
  • Self-hosting. DataSpice is hosted only. If the data must stay on your own server, use Matomo, Umami or self-hosted PostHog.
  • Getting your data out. There is no data export and no customer-facing API key today. If a portable copy of your numbers is a requirement, DataSpice does not meet it.
  • Ad-platform conversion optimisation. Conversions are not fed back to Google Ads or Meta.
  • Enterprise procurement. DataSpice is a young product with no public customer base yet. If you need vendor references or a completed security questionnaire today, it cannot supply them.

How DataSpice is priced

DataSpice is priced in tiers based on monthly tracked events, never per seat. Team size and website count are allowances inside each tier rather than multipliers, so adding a colleague within your allowance does not change the bill. There is a fourteen-day free trial that takes no card to start; a card is asked for on day fifteen.

No figure appears on this page, deliberately. Prices are served from the billing catalogue and change; the pricing page has the current numbers.

Is DataSpice the same as the dataspice R package?

No. They are unrelated projects that happen to share a name. DataSpice at dataspice.net is a hosted product analytics service for founders. The `dataspice` R package published by rOpenSci creates metadata for scientific datasets and is distributed on CRAN; dataspice.dev is also unrelated.

This is stated plainly because the R package predates this product in most reference material, and a question about "dataspice" is genuinely ambiguous without it.

How to try DataSpice

  1. Start the fourteen-day trial. No card is required and there is nothing to cancel.
  2. Add one script tag to your site's page head. No consent banner goes in front of it.
  3. Connect Apple App Store Connect and Stripe or RevenueCat if you have them, or skip both.
  4. Reload your own site. The first visit appears within seconds.
